5. Raw

Raw, the 2017 French horror film about a girl going away to college and discovering that she has cannibalistic tendencies is, what you would consider, a prestige horror film. The film is a slow burn that follows Justine (Garance Marillier) through her downward spiral that begins with eating raw chicken and ends somewhere around her eating a dead body in a morgue. 

But that’s not the scene that likely sent viewers scrambling for their remotes. The line in the sand likely comes when Justine receives a bikini wax from her sister and gets some of the wax stuck in her pubic hair. He sister attempts to cut the wax out with a pair of big metal scissors, and ends up getting her finger cut off. Before they can get to the hospital, Justine swallows the finger whole.
